Description:
Abstract:
In the 3rd chapter we deal with the Stratified random sampling (SrS) the most often used sampling technique for surveys. Definitions of basic concepts and the suitable notations are given. We deal with the two kinds of sampling and the suitable estimators: Proportional and optimal allocation. A short part of this chapter is for binary variables, the percentages and their estimations especially in surveys. Also the problem of the size of whole sample and its parts from the population parts (strata) is studied.
Illustrative Examples are given and in some case the problem of optimal allocation is studied. The optimality criteria have to do with a) The cost of the survey and b) the variance of the mean value of the estimators. Some exercises are proposed for solution.
