Abstract:
Historically, domestic technology has been directly related to the everyday gender roles. This chapter highlights the necessity of gender equality towards a path of sustainability and interdisciplinary approaches the relationship of gender and household technology. More specifically, the factors affecting the relationship of domestic technology and gender are examined, as well as the ways in which domestic technology determines the power relations between men and women. Additionally, the receptivity of women to modern technologies is investigated and the impact of women participation in household technology on their daily life is highlighted.

After studying this chapter, the reader will be able to:
• recognize the necessity of gender equality for sustainable development,
• understand the relationship between gender and household technology,
• highlight the impacts of modern household technology on everyday life of women.
